Obituary of Ronald Lee Pond

Ronald Lee "Pondy" Pond, 63, recently of Victory Highway, Painted Post and formerly of Knoxville, PA, passed away on Saturday evening, June 15, 2013 at home following a long illness. Pondy was born in Wellsboro, PA on Aug. 31, 1949, the son of Milford L. and Reta A. Sawyer Pond. He entered the US Army in Jan. 1968 and served until Dec. 1969. A carpenter by trade, Pondy had worked for various contractors but most of his work was as a self employed carpenter. He was a member of the Elkland Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his father, Milford "Pondy" Pond on Aug. 20, 2011, his brothers, Bruce and Michael Pond, his second wife, Mary Pond and his granddaughter, Angel Hallock. Pondy is survived by his children, Rhonda (Donnie) Farrell, with whom he made his home, of Painted Post, Bruce Hallock of Horseheads and Joshua Pond of New York City, his step children, Wendy Roe and Paul Fower, who he loved as his own, his mother, Reta Pond of Knoxville, his grandchildren, whom he cherished his time with, Geoffrey (Crystal) Layton, Samantha Layton, Bo Farrell, Thomas Overhiser, Kaycie Hallock, Joshua Pond Jr., Aniyah Pond, Shamaulla Pond, step grandchildren, Nicolas Roe, Marissa Mesuch, Colbe Fowler, great grandson, Giovanni Layton, his brother, Martin (Amy) Pond of Savona, his sisters, Vickie (Fred) Lehman of Lawrenceville and Tina (Henry) Dawley of Smethport, PA and his first wife, Nancy Beard Hallock. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 18 from 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY and again there on Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM. where his funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM. Rev. Melanie Beardslee will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Knoxville with full military honors. Service: Wednesday, June 19, 2013 1:00 PM H.P. Smith & Son Inc.
