Obituary of Cecile V. Burchard

CANISTEO: Cecile V. Burchard, 90, of Second St. passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday (July 23, 2013) surrounded by her family, following an extended illness. Cecile was born November 16, 1922 in Cameron to Frank and Jennie (Crane) Judd. On August 3, 1941 she married Richard Burchard who predeceased her in May of 1953. She was also predeceased by a son, LaVerne Burchard, two brothers: Merle and Leon Judd and a sister Laura Crosby. Cecile was a lifelong resident of the Canisteo Valley where she made her home as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Canisteo American Legion Auxiliary and had attended the Canisteo First Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter Wanda (Thomas) White of Hornell, three sons: Richard (Linda) Burchard of Hornell, Robert Burchard and Alan J. (Darla) Burchard of Canisteo. She is also survived by 11 grand children, 13 great grand children and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Cameron Mills.
