WHITESVILLE: Ronald J. "Jack" Lewis, 73, of Snow Rd. passed away Friday (Aug. 2, 2013) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville shortly after falling ill at home. Jack was born July 13, 1940 in the town of West Union to Charlie and Bertha (Harkenrider) Lewis. On June 26, 1971 in Bradford, Pa. he married Dorothy Baker who survives and resides in Whitesville. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Craig Lewis and a sister Eleanor McCormick. Jack was a lifelong resident of the Whitesville and West Union area where he made his living as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of West Union for over thirty years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1963-65 and was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Andover. Jack loved the outdoors and was especially fond of camping and spending time with his family and friends. A pet lover at heart he also enjoyed the company of his dog "Angel" where ever he went. In addition to his wife of 42 years, Dorothy Lewis, Jack is survived by a son David (Mary) Davis of Stannards, a daughter: MaryLynn (Jason) Churchill of Fairmont, N.D. 8 grand children to include: Devin (Eric) Meehan, Donald (Nancy) Davis, Bryce, Ellie and Jack Davis, Jason, Melissa and Justin (Melanie) Churchill, 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Jean Westfall and Loretta Potter both of Florida, sister-in-law Betty Lewis of Arkport and brother-in-law Bill McCormick of Canisteo and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where evening prayers will take place at 8:45 PM. A mass and Christian burial will take place Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rexville. Burial will be in St. Mary's Churchyard Cemetery in Rexville. Memorial contributions in Jack Lewis's name may be made to the donor's choice
