Obituary of Clifford A. Padgett

Clifford A. "Kip" Padgett, 79, of Cty. Rte. 112, Addison, entered into rest on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at home following a short illness. Born in Tuscarora on December 2, 1933, Kip was the son of Basil A. and Winifred Swan Padgett. He attended Addison Schools and was a 1951 graduate of Addison Central School. Following high school, Kip began a long career with Corning Glass Works. He left there in 1956 and served in the US Army until 1958. He returned to Corning and was employed there for 38 years, retiring in 1990. While he worked for Corning, he held various positions, retiring as a trademark operator at the Pressware plant. A great outdoorsman, Kip was an avid hunter, especially deer and turkey hunting. He belonged to the NRA, the Turkey Federation and the Bunker Hill Sportsman Club. When younger, he was very active in slow pitch softball league play. He enjoyed passing time playing cards. He is survived by his daughters, Janine Watkins of Dansville and Deborah Padgett of Bath, his son, Burdett Padgett (Becky Nelson) of Addison, his grandchildren, Burdett Padgett Jr., Benjamin Padgett, Logen Southard, Drake Rude, Trina Watkins, Jeff Watkins, Crastin Brockway, Michael Zulkowski and Zachary Watkins, his great granddaughter, Ava Marie Baines, his brothers, Raymond Padgett of Scottsdale, AZ and Keith (Marilyn) Padgett of Addison, his sister, Winifred (Thurman) Jones of Addison and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Caroline Morseman and Nancy Myers. Friends may call on Monday, Aug. 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Kip's funeral services will be held there on Tuesday at 11 AM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will follow in Addison Hill Cemetery, Town of Tuscarora. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Addison Fire Dept. and Ambulance Assoc.
