Obituary of Rebecca A. Mong

ELDRED/JASPER: Rebecca A." Becky" Mong, 61, of Eldred, Pa. formerly of Jasper, passed away Tuesday (Sept. 24, 2013) at Olean General Hospital following a short illness. Becky was born August 9, 1952 in North Hornell to Elmer and Ortha (Kellogg) Van Skiver. She was a graduate of Jasper Central School class of 1970, attended Corning Community College and transferred to SUNY Geneseo where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. She started her working career at the Evergreen Elms in Bradford, Pa. and in the last 26 years has been employed as the residency manager of STEL of Olean. Becky was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting and woodworking. She loved nature and animals and spent a devoted amount of time in the outdoors either observing the natural world around her, gardening flowers or working in her vegetable garden. Becky's unending expression of love for her family and friends will forever be in our hearts and memories. Survivors include a daughter: Bonnie (Robert) Easton of Port Allegany, Pa. a son Dannie (Diane) Mong of Skytop, Pa. one granddaughter: Kaitlyn Easton of Port Allegany, four sisters: Cheryl (Lloyd) Drake of Jasper, Sharon Brewer (James Koegel) of Canisteo, Carrie (Carroll) Wade of Jasper and Gayle Van Skiver of Jasper, one brother: David (Vicki) Van Skiver of Andover and good friend and former husband Dan Mong of Prentisevale, Pa. several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. In keeping with Becky's wishes there will be no prior calling hrs. or service. A memorial service will be announced at a time and place at a future date.
