Obituary of Arnold G. Christian

Arnold G. Christian, 71, of County Route 129, Woodhull, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA following a brief illness. Born in Elmira, NY on February 8, 1942, Arnold was the son of Raymond and Luella Metz Christian. His family moved to Woodhull when Arnold was young where he attended Woodhull Union Free School. On April 28, 1973, he and Patricia Herrington were married at the United Methodist Church of Woodhull. Pat survives. Arnold was employed as a young man for 5 years with the Woodhull Highway Department. He left there and went to work for the Steuben County Department of Public Works, retiring after 28 years of active employment. Arnold and Pat attended the Community Church of Woodhull. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He loved to attend yard sales and was a long time vendor at area flea markets. Arnold's greatest fulfillment in life came from spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Christian and his sister, Louise Button. Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Patricia Christian of Woodhull, his daughter and son in law, Linda VanCise and Steven VanCise of Woodhull, his sons, Kyle Christian of Woodhull and Kreg Christian of Corning, his grandsons, Henry (Vicki) VanCise and Steven VanCise all of Woodhull, his great granddaughters, Kailee and Brooke VanCise, his beloved cocker spaniel, Sammy, his sisters in law, Martha (Ladd) Webster and Ella Mae Herrington and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Sunday, October 6 from 3-6 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Monday at 11 AM with Pastor Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
