Obituary of Inez M. Henry

SOUTH DANSVILLE: Inez M. Henry, 95, of Cty. Rte. 46, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 16, 2013) at Hornell Gardens following a brief illness. Inez was born June 6, 1918 in Canisteo to Perry A. and Mina Mae (Marvin) Preston. On June 15, 1941 in Canisteo she married Maxson L. Henry who predeceased her in April of 2011. She was also predeceased by a son Marvin J. Henry in March of 2004, twin sister Irene Jamison, sister, Alice L. Preston and brother Eldon Preston. She was a graduate of Jasper Central School class of 1936, member of the First Baptist Church in Canisteo where she was a choir member for many years, a trustee, deacon of Christian Education and a member of the church "Philathea Class". Inez was a member and past Matron of the Canisteo Order of Eastern Star, member of both Ivanhoe Chapter in Hornell and Wayland Chapter of O.E.S. She had the distinguished honor of being the O.E.S. Grand Representative to Illinois. She was also on the Board of Elections for many years in the town of Dansville. Inez is survived by two daughters: Marilyn (Sumner) Weston of Mesa, AZ and Marlene Murphy of South Dansville, a son Marlow (Karen) Henry of Dansville, 7 Grand children: Eileen (James) Kirkland, Daniel Weston, Michelle Henry, Cheryl (Matthew) Randall, Erica (Kenneth) Toomey, Shawn and Jared Henry 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-6 pm Sunday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where and O.E.S. service will take place at 5:45 pm. Funeral and committal services will take place Monday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo.
