Obituary of Deloss W. Sturm

CANISTEO: Deloss W. Sturm, Jr. of Stephens St. passed away Monday (Oct. 21, 2013) at the Bath VA Nursing Home Facility following a long illness. Deloss was born April 30, 1928 in Gordon, NE. to Deloss W. and Eunice (Finch) Sturm, Sr. On September 7, 1983 in Hartsville he married the former Lenora Drake who predeceased him in October of 2012. He was also predeceased by a daughter Cheryl Spangenburg. Deloss was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving our country during WWII from 1945-49. He had been employed as a cheese maker at Polio Dairy in Campbell for 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing very much. He was also a former HAM radio operator for a number of years. Survivors include four sons: William (Terry) O'Dell, Steve O'Dell, Ronald (Carol) O'Dell and Donald (Donna) O'Dell all of Canisteo, 17 grand children and several great grand children. The family will receive friends from 2-5 PM Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services with military honors will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 5 PM. with Pastor Donald Maynard officiating.
