Joel - DO CROSSFIT! I have been going to a crossfit gym in Kirkland for just over a year now, and it's a life caghner. For sure! I've been over weight for most of my life, and in the past year I've lost just over 100lbs, I'm stronger and healthier than ever, the community is amazing, I have not once regretted a day I went in to work out, on and on and on I could go.At least go in with her once for one work out. Just try it. : ]

Dorothy Whitmore was an excellent teacher. I was privileged to have been one of her 4th grade students at Tuscarora Elementary in the 80's. Some of my favorite things I discovered while in her classroom (Little Niagara; C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; and my favorite Andes Candies). In more recent years she became a cherished friend. I shall miss her, but I thank God I had the honor of knowing her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Aunt Dot and Uncle Matt moved back to Addison when I was in third grade and they and my two older cousins helped to enrich my life from the moment they arrived. That first year Aunt Dot taught a special education class in the Addison elementary school right down the hall from my third grade classroom. One of the first, and, perhaps, most important lessons she taught me was that all people, no matter their intellectual or physical challenges, are absolutely the same as me, within their hearts and souls. Aunt Dot knew that intrinsically and helped to teach everyone in the school that lesson. I spent spare time in her classroom that year and learned so much about life, about her special, loving students, and about her. I was so proud to call her my Aunt. Our two families became one and I looked to Uncle Matt and Aunt Dot for guidance and support, just as I did to my parents. I idolized my two accomplished, handsome older cousins (still do!) and basked in their patient and extremely kind attention. The Whitmore family and the Mergler family spent so many wonderful hours together around dining room tables or relaxed in living rooms and dens, at the boat, and on every holiday. In particular, Aunt Dot and Uncle Matt created extraordinary Christmas Eve parties that defined Christmas Eve for so many of us and they welcomed any and all into their lovely home. Aunt Dot and Uncle Matt supported my parents and me throughout a particularly challenging time in our lives when I was seriously injured in an accident. Their unconditional support, love, and assistance helped all of us to survive and rise above those challenging times. I will forever hold my wise, loving Aunt in my heart and will find comfort when sharing my wonderful memories of her with Uncle Matt, Mike and Mickey, and Matt and Marti.
