Obituary of Curtis P. Hagadone

AVOCA: Curtis P. Hagadone, 34, of Charlesworth Ave. passed away unexpectedly Monday (Nov. 25, 2013) at Ira Davenport Hospital in Hammondsport after falling ill at home. Curtis was born November 12, 1979 in Dansville to John and Connie (Robords) Hagadone. On September 14, 2002 in Cohocton, he married Courtney Edwards who survives. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Robert and Betty Hagadone and maternal grandparents Hattie and Rodney Robords. He was a graduate of Avoca Central School class of 1998 and had furthered his education by attending Monroe Community College where he earned his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and achieving the Dean's list his last two semesters. He had been a Security officer for Corning Inc. in Corning for 13 years. Curtis was an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved to play baseball both for the Avoca Tigers in high school and Monroe Community College where he was selected on a Western Regional All-star Team. After college he enjoyed playing softball in numerous area leagues during the summer months and was an avid bowler through the winter. His other interests were hunting and fishing in which fishing was his passion particularly in the company of his family and friends. Curtis was a member of the Hornell Moose Club, enjoyed watching the N.Y. Giants football team and enjoyed fantasy football and baseball with his friends. Curtis is survived by his wife Courtney and son Andrew of Avoca, parents John and Connie Hagadone of Avoca, two brothers; John Hagadone, Jr. of Bath and Scott Hagadone of Atlanta, father and mother-in-law Robert and Shirley Edwards of Avoca, brothers-in-law Benjamin (Tammy) Edwards of Hornell, and Thomas (Melissa) Edwards of Avoca and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Robert) Hogan of Avoca, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 PM Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo with evening prayers at 7:45. A Mass and Christian burial will take place Saturday at 11:00 AM at the St. Pius Catholic Church in Cohocton. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Avoca. Memorial contributions may be made to the Andrew Hagadone Scholarship Fund, c/o Elizabeth Hogan, 59704 Ste. Rte. 415, Avoca, N.Y. 14809.
