Obituary of Arloween E. Cody

Arloween Elizabeth Cody of 3629 Dyke Road, Corning, NY, passed away peacefully at home on December 17th 2013 with family at her side. Arloween was born February 26th 1935 in Cameron Mills, NY to Harold D. and Clara Bell (Horton) Rude. Arloween married William R. Cody June 7th 1958 and just celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary. In 2008 Arloween and Bill renewed their Wedding vows on their 50th Anniversary at Central Baptist Church in East Corning, where Arloween and Bill have been members for 37 years. Arloween was a school teacher at King's Way Christian Academy where she taught computer skills and math for 13 years. Arloween retired from Corning Inc. with 38 years of service, working in the Decker Building as a secretary. Arloween enjoyed many things in life including snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, gardening and cooking. She also enjoyed traveling with Bill and family and friends going as far away as Alaska in their travels. She is survived by her husband Bill and two sons, Charles R. Cody and Michelle of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jonathon J. Cody and Melinda of Fort Worth, Texas, three grandchildren, Melissa M. (Ken) Kassens of Fayetteville, NC, James C. (Shanna) Cody of Skiatook, OK and Vanessa (Tim) Mitchell of Lauderdale, La. and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, William E. (Carla) Rude of Woodhull, Robert C. (Edie) Rude of Palmyra and Russell (Jill) Rude of Alabama and, a sister, Thelma Neff of Alabama, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Harold and Dwight Rude and her beloved dog Dasie. The family wishes to thank the Guthrie Clinic Staff, especially Sue Damico. Also a special thanks to Anastasia, Alicia and Kathey of the Hospice staff and to her care givers, Maggie Greene, Carla Rude, Michelle Cody and Karen Carson Tucker. A Memorial Service will be held at the Central Baptist Church in East Corning on Saturday, December 28 at 2 PM with Pastor Ronald Aebersold officiating. The family will be present to greet friends from 1 to 2 PM prior to the service.. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church at 11791 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830-3658.
