Obituary of Lee C. Hallett

CANISTEO: Lee C. Hallett, 75, of Spruce St. passed away Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2011) at St. James Mercy Hospital after being stricken ill at home. Lee was born December 16, 1936, in Canisteo to James and Cora (Campbell) Hallett. On October 10, 1959 in Canisteo he married Donna Lee Stage who predeceased him in August of 2005. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by two brothers: Thomas and James Hallett. Lee was a graduate of Canisteo Central School class of 1954 and upon graduation enlisted into the US Army where he served from 1954- 1959. After serving his country he worked and retired as a brakeman on the railroad for Conrail out of Harrisburg, Pa. He was a former member of the Canisteo American Legion and member of the NRA. In earlier years Lee loved to hunt and fish before declining health kept him from doing his favorite pastimes. He also loved his family and enjoyed the time spent with family and friends. Survivors include a daughter: Deborah (Christopher) George of Almond, two sons: George (Leslie) Hallett of OK. and James (Vicki) Hallett of Hornell. His grand children, Sandie Lasure, James and Thomas Hallett, Robert Reid, Elizabeth (Kris) Smith, Robert George, Matthew Capluzzi, Justin, Benjamin and James Brown. His great grand children: Natalie Capluzzi, Eviana Brown, Aubrie Smith, James, Elischa and Kaylee Lasure. Lee is also survived by four sisters: Susan Griffin of Long Island, Amy Burdick and JoAnn (Donald) Manley both of Canisteo and Harriet (John) Groves of Savona as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St in Canisteo where funeral and committal services with military honors will take place Wed. at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo. Memorial contributions in Lee Hallett's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Rd. North, Rochester, N.Y. 14609.
