Jasper, NY | Lois A. Welty, 80, of Hornell Gardens, Hornell, formerly of Jasper, entered into rest on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell. Lois was born in Jasper on May 16, 1933, the daughter of George M. and Letha A. Hoyt Zeh. She attended school in Jasper and was a graduate of Jasper Central School. A homemaker most of her life, Lois had worked as a nurse's aide at a former nursing facility in Bath and later for 13 years at Westinghouse Electric in Bath as well as working for a time in the old Jasper Library. On July 14, 1973, Lois married Alan W. Welty in Cameron, NY. He survives. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen DeRoo, her brother, Nelson Zeh and brother in law, Gary Friends. Surviving are her husband, Alan Welty of Jasper, her sisters in law, Angeline Zeh of Addison, Janet (Donald) Panzik of Rochester, Mary Friends of Ontario, NY, Marilyn (Lewis) Dickerson of Wichita Falls, TX and Pat Button of Bath, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 5 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Thursday ay 1 PM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery. Service: Thursday, February 6, 2014 1:00 PM H.P. Smith & Son Inc.
