Obituary of Rosalind L. Aldrich

Jasper, NY | Rosalind L. Aldrich, 88, of Hunter Hill Road, Jasper, passed away at home on Monday, February 17, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born in Washington, DC on March 22, 1925, the daughter of William Clarence and Clara K. (Fastnaught) Austin. On November 20, 1954, she and Augustus Aldrich were married in Elkland, Pa. Gus survives. Rose was employed at one time at Westinghouse in Corning. In 1972 she began a career with Jasper Central School and later Jasper-Troupsburg Central School where she worked for over 20 years in food service in both schools. She was a member of the MacDonald Guild in Woodhull as well as the Woodhull TOPS chapter. Rose was a very loving wife, Mom and Grandma. Surviving are her husband of nearly 60 years, Gus Aldrich of Jasper, her son and daughter in law, Jeffery and Michelle Aldrich of Jasper, her daughter, Lisi Nye (Curt Short) of Woodhull, her granddaughter, Tyahna Marvin of Jasper, her great granddaughter, Terigan Morse, her sister, Margaret Knott of Maryland, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rose was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Rutledge on Sept. 24, 2012, her brother, Thomas Austin and her sister, Kay Timmerman. Friends may call on Friday, February 21 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. A memorial service will follow there at 8 PM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Chenango Cemetery, Troupsburg, NY. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with funeral expenses in care of the funeral home. Service: Friday, February 21,2014 8:00 PM H.P. Smith & Son Inc.
