Obituary of Beverly A. Martin

Beverly A. Martin, 70, of County Route 100, Addison (Town of Woodhull), passed away at home on Monday, June 16, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Bev was born in Ithaca, NY on Oct. 2, 1943, the daughter of the late Richard and Gertrude Miller Davis. On Aug. 17, 1963, she and Lewis M. Martin were married in Borden, NY. Lew preceded her in death on June 18, 2012. Bev and Lew made their home together in Canisteo for many years and moved to the family farm in Woodhull in 1995. She had been a longtime employee at Crowley Foods in Arkport but had also worked as a welder at Corbin's in Hornell, Marian Rohr in Hornell, Uni Mart Store in Canisteo and the Addison Central School cafeteria. Her largest role in life by far was as a homemaker and farmer on the family farm. Bev was the glue that held the family and farm together and was referred to by her family as "The Boss". Known as G Ma by many, she was a huge auto racing fan with Mark Martin being her favorite driver, other than family members that had raced on the local dirt tracks. Bev had been made an honorary member of the Woodhull Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving is her daughter and son in law, Jacki and Tim Clark of Woodhull, her sons and daughters in law, Jim and Barb Martin, Adelbert "AJ" Martin, Tim and Katie Martin and Brandon Martin (Rebekah Fort), all of Woodhull, her grandchildren, Brandi Martin, Justin Martin, Jamie Martin (Kassanda Prutsman), Tori Martin, Trevor Martin, Brooke Krisher, Bryce Martin. Timmy Martin, Yvonne Khork and Corey Khork, her great grandson, Kamden Khork, her foster brother who made his home with Bev, Larry Miller, her brothers, Richard (Ruth) Davis of Canisteo, Donald (Barb) Davis of Cameron, Edward (Joanne) Davis of Cameron, David (Carol) Davis of Canisteo and Doug (Peg) Davis of Canisteo, her sisters, Betty Crandall of Dundee, Virginia Newton of Hamburg, Sandy Calton of Buffalo and Joan (Dave) Woodworth of Canisteo, dear friends, Bill and Darlene Gridley of Tuscarora and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Lew, Bev was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond, Neil and Robert Davis and her sister, Patricia Terwilliger. Friends may call on Thursday, June 19 from 6-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. David Scrimshaw officiating. Burial will be in Martin Farms Cemetery, Town of Woodhull. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ride for Roswell.
