Obituary of Sandra K. Shinebarger

CANISTEO: Sandra K. Shinebarger, 63, of Russell St. passed away Friday (June 20, 2014) at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Sandra was born February 21, 1951 in North Hornell, to John and Ethel (Conklin) Patrick. On January 8, 1977 in Hornell she married Robert Shinebarger who survives and resides in Canisteo. She was predeceased by her parents and her first husband Carlyle Taylor, also mother-in-law Ella O'dell, father-in-law, Richard Shinebarger and sister-in-law Becky Eveland. Sandra was a home maker, wife, mother and grandmother, and was a life long resident of the Canisteo area and a graduate of Canisteo Central School. She was also a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Canisteo. Through her son's participation, she was very supportive and always looked forward to the motorcycle "Rock & Roar" event held every summer in the area. In addition to her husband, Robert Shinebarger of Canisteo, Sandra is survived by a son Dale (Diane) Shinebarger of Howard, her three grand children: Makaila, Brianna and Michael Shinebarger. She is also survived by two sisters: Bonnie Phillipson of Grand Forks, N. D. and Katherine Patrick of Canisteo, a brother-in-law Ray (Mary) Shinebarger of Fremont, two sisters-in-law Betsy (Tim) Hawkins of Elba and Betty (Tom) Henry of Canisteo and lifelong friends, Ella and Rocky Howard of Canisteo, several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank JoEllen York, Jamie Melnyk and Diane Shinebarger for all their help and support through this difficult time. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 8 PM with Randall Mattison officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo. Memorial contributions in Sandra's name may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Dunning Rd. Canisteo, N.Y. 14823.
