Obituary of Veronica D. Crosby

TROUPSBURG: Veronica D. "Bonnie" Crosby, 90, of Price School Rd. passed away peacefully Saturday morning (June 28, 2014) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. Bonnie was born May 5, 1924 in Greenwood, to William and Zoe (McMindes) O'Dell. On September 9, 1944 in Rexville she married Paul O. Crosby who predeceased her on August 5, 2012. She was also predeceased by six brothers: Augustus, Robert, George, Wilbur, Clinton and Richard O'Dell, three sisters: Sara Padden, Marguerite Nye and Geraldine Harkenrider. Bonnie was a lifelong resident of the Greenwood, Troupsburg area where she was a devoted wife and home maker. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rexville and her favorite activities were gardening, sewing, knitting, canning fresh fruits and vegetables and doing many various crafts. Having no children of her own, Bonnie is survived by a very special friend, Bridget Griswold of Hornell, her cat "Mommy" and many nieces and nephews. Calling hrs.for Bonnie will be Monday from 7-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. Funeral and committal services will take place Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rexville. Burial will be in St. Mary's Churchyard Cemetery, Rexville. Memorial contributions in Veronica "Bonnie" Crosby's name may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd. Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
