Obituary of Victor A. Losey

BATH: Victor A. "Vic" Losey, 77, of Kingsley St. passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (July 8, 2014) at Ira Davenport Hospital. Vic was born March 25, 1937 in Wellsville, to Lewis R. and Marion (Haselton) Losey. On February 7, 1999 in Bath he married Catherine "Cathy" Betteridge, who survives and resides in Bath. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Shirley (Higgins) Losey in 1996 and a daughter Vickie Losey in 2012 and a brother Jack Losey. Vic was a graduate of Greenwood Central School and had been employed at Ingersoll and Dresser Rand in Olean and Painted Post for a combined 44 years and retired as a supervisor in 1999. He enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and abroad, visiting places in Europe: Italy, Ireland, Swiss Alps, and Germany and to Puerto Rico to name a few. Vic also kept busy with woodworking, taking care of his home and enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He also looked forward to spending winters in Florida. In addition to his wife Cathy Losey of Bath, Vic is survived by 6 sons: Duane (Connie) Losey of Quakertown, PA, Dennis (Jan) Losey of Bath, Michael Losey of Michigan, Jeff (Gina) Losey of Plainfield, ILL. Greg (Jan) Losey of Batavia and Scott (Kathy) Losey of Elmira. His step-children: Patricia (Matt) Gambino of South Dansville, David (Amy) McMichael of Hornell, Michelle (Chuck) Chamberlain of Hornell, Edward McMichael of South Dansville, Stacy (John) Baumgarter of Landolakes, FL. and Shawn (Kelly) McMichael of Arkport. Vic is also survived by three brothers: Bob (Nellie) Losey of Bath, Jim Losey of Whitesville and Ben (Norma) Losey of Tenn. 19 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-9 PM Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, N.Y.
