James Frederick "Fritz" Rude, 101, of Lapeer, Michigan, formerly of Woodhull, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014. He was born April 11, 1913 to Fred and Lena Mutch Rude in Troupsburg, New York. His first love was farming and he was a dairy farmer all of his working life. He lived 97 years of his life within 10 miles of where he was born. He married Marsh Dickerson on June 22, 1935. They were married 67 plus years and had four children. He was a member of Dairyman's League and a member of the Woodhull Community Church. He also drove ambulance for the Woodhull Fire Department for a short time. He and Marsha were members of the 49ers square dance group for several years. He is survived by his children, a son James of Lapeer, Michigan, daughters - Jeannene (Jim) Koprowski of Lapeer, Michigan and Susan (Jim) McBride of Chino Valley, Arizona. Five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, a sister, Ethel Wood of Rochester, NY and sister in law, Bernice Shauger of Corning. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marsha on May 3, 2003 and his son Stephen Rude. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 12 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Woodhull Community Church, W. Main St. Woodhull, with Pastor Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodhull Community Church or the Woodhull Fire Department.
