Obituary of Kenneth B Quick

ADRIAN: Kenneth B "Ken" Quick, 67, of Cty. Rte. 119 passed away Monday (August 18, 2014) in the town of Canisteo as a result of injuries sustained in a farming accident. Ken was born February 27, 1947 in Hornell to Clyde B. and Georgetta P. (Stage) Quick. On March 16, 1968 in Canisteo he married the former Nancy Lorow who survives and resides in Adrian. He was predeceased by his parents, a granddaughter Amber Quick, sisters: Bethel Brown and Geraldine Quick and a brother Gerald Quick. Ken was a graduate of Canisteo Central School where he was a member of the FFA and was State Vice president for the FFA during high school. He received an Associates degree in Business from City University in Washington and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard serving 24 years from 1967 to 1991, retiring as a Sergeant 1st Class. He was a former Scout Master for Troop 14 of Canisteo, past president of Canisteo Little League, a member of the Disable Veterans Association and was a member and past Master of Morning Star Lodge #65 F&AM. In addition to his wife of 46 years Nancy Quick, Ken is survived by a daughter: Becki (Tim) Pollizi of Canisteo, 4 sons: Kenneth "KC" (Shannon) Quick of Cameron Mills, Benjamin (Sandra) Quick of Almond, Jason (Kelly) Quick of Nunda and John (Lynn) Quick of Adrian. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Hunter Quick, Brandon and Zach Mills, Bethany (Joe) Gayhart, Brandon Pollizi, Samantha and Abigail Quick, Ryan, Curtis, Austin and Kenneth Quick, Chloe Smith and Logan and Elijah Quick and one great Grandson: Nathaniel Gayhart. In addition Ken is survived by two brothers: Daniel (Judy) Quick and Robert "Otis" (Laura) Quick all of Catatunk, two sisters: Joyce Sharp of Canisteo and Shirley (William) McCourt of Adrian, brother-in-law Richard Brown of Catatunk and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where a Masonic service will take place at 7:45 PM Thursday evening. A funeral service will take place Friday at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Canisteo. Burial with full military honors will be in Bath National Cemetery, Bath, N.Y. Memorial contributions in Ken Quick's name may be made to either: Cure Childhood Cancer Association, 200 Westfall Rd., Rochester, N.Y. 14620 or to the Volunteer Services, Bath VA Medical Center, 76 Veterans Ave. Bath, N.Y. 14810.
