Jonathon D. Wheaton, 30, of Main St. Knoxville, Pa., died very suddenly on Monday morning, October 13, 2014, at home. Born in Oscoda, Michigan on March 19, 1984, Jonathon was the son of Douglas and Lisa Smith Wheaton. He was a 2002 graduate of Northwestern High School in Albion, Pa. A US Army veteran, he served two tours of duty in Iraq. He was very proud to have become an Airborne Trooper while in the service. Following his discharge in 2007, he attended Corning Community College. He was presently employed as an equipment operator in the gas fields of Pennsylvania working for Smith Drilling LLC. He was a member of the Knoxville VFW and a social member of the Knoxville-Deerfield Fire Company. A great motorcycle enthusiast, he also loved hunting, fishing and camping. He adored his two pet dogs. Jonathon was engaged to Kristle Buchanan, who perished with him in a tragic fire at their home in Knoxville. Jonathon is survived by his son, Logan, his father and step mother, Douglas and Tamala Wheaton of Addison, his mother and step father, Lisa and Tim Thornburgh of Columbia, Miss., his sister, Clorinda (Maverick) Kendrick of Columbia, Miss., his brother, Brandon (Sarah) Wheaton of Laurel, Miss., his step brothers, Alan (Jessie) Hurler and Blane Hurler, both of Brookfield, Pa., his paternal grandmother, Arlene Reynolds of Jasper, his maternal grandparents, Carol and Ronald Smith of Harrison Valley, Pa. and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clinton and Janeann Wheaton. Friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Following a short recess, his funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2 PM. Burial, with military honors, will be made in North Bingham Cemetery, North Bingham, Pa.
