Troupsburg, NY | Loretta M. Cady, 88, of Troupsburg, NY, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 very suddenly at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell after being stricken at home. Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa. on March 1, 1926, Loretta was the daughter of the late Cyrus M. and Bernice P. Evans Tripp. She married Harold B. Cady who preceded her in death on May 11, 1991. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Paul, Charles and Wayne Tripp. Loretta was employed for several years by the Troupsburg Central School District, first as a bus driver and later in the school cafeteria. She was a long time member of the Troupsburg Baptist Church. A very loving mother, grandmother and sister, Loretta's favorite pastime was being in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family, always with a smile on her face. She was an avid reader and in earlier times, loved to dance. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Audrey and Joseph Ogrodowski of Troupsburg, Sharon and Lynn Matson of Falconer, NY, Lynn and Vaughan Taft of Woodhull and Tina and Jay Newberry of Troupsburg, her grandchildren, Ronald (Laurie) Matson, Julie (David) Williams, Renee (Donald) Aldrich, Corey Holt, Tod Holt, Nate Newberry, Jacob Newberry, Preston (Jody) Newberry, Jarrid Newberry and Ardeth Newberry, several great grandchildren, her sisters, Dorothy Allen of Painted Post, Jessie Abbey of Lakeland, FL., Emma George of Ulysses, Pa., June Atkins of Perkins, Okla., Sylvia Clark of Addison, Velma Quick of Hickory, NC and Marilyn Padgett of Addison, her brother, David Tripp of Wilmington, NC and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday, Oct. 24 from 1 to 3 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Loretta's funeral service will follow there at 3 PM with Pastor Larry Adee officiating. Burial will be made in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg next to her husband Harold. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested for either the Troupsburg Fire Department or Ladies Auxiliary.
