Obituary of Ilene Cook Spencer

WAYLAND/HORNELL: Ilene Cook Spencer, 83, formerly of Pleasantside Drive ,Wayland, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 6, 2015) at Hornell Gardens where she had resided since June of 2011. Ilene was born February 14, 1931 in Canisteo to Arthur S. and Harriett J. (Chase) Cook. On April 29, 1951 in Canisteo she married Richard L. Spencer who predeceased her in November of 1994. She was also predeceased by two sisters: Margaret Khork and Ellen Clark and a brother Donald Cook. Ilene worked for many years as a fabric cutter at the Gunlocke Furniture Manufacturing Co. in Wayland. She is survived by two brothers: Glenn (Charlotte) Cook of Cohocton and Bradley Cook of Unatilla, FL. nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo. Memorial contributions in Ilene Spencer's name may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd. Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
