Obituary of D. Eloise Raish

CANISTEO: D. Eloise Raish, 87, of South Elm St. passed away Saturday (Jan. 10, 2015) at the Bath Health Care Facility following a short illness. Eloise was born May 7, 1927 in Canisteo to Clifford C. and Doris E. (York) Caffery. She was predeceased by daughter: Patti Jack and a brother: Robert Caffery. Eloise had worked as a machine operator for the former Sterns and Sterns Textile Co. in Canisteo for 48 years and was a proud member of the local textile union. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed the company of her family very much. Eloise loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle to keep her mind sharp and also enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. Survivors include a son: Michael (Patricia) Jack of Canisteo, two daughters: Lori Beaudoin of Waterville, ME and Melanie (Sam Outman) of Hornell, her grandchildren: Jillian and Kasey Beaudoin, Heather and Alisha Jack, and Taylor, Nicholas and Makenna King. Eloise is also survived by three sisters: Phyllis Hatter of North Hornell, Shirley Lowrey of Marilla and Linda (Robert) Recktenwald of Daytona Beach, FL one niece and two nephews. There will be no calling hours, a private family funeral service will be at the convenience of the family at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, NY. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Canisteo ambulance Fund, c/o Sandy Pierce, 35 main St. Canisteo, NY 14823.
