Clayton J. Rose, 81, of Lavalette, West Virginia, formerly of Corning, NY, died Monday, January 26, 2015 at Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia. Born in Corning on December 24, 1933, he was the son of Ernest and Dorothy Rose. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and for seven years in the Army Reserves. A retired union carpenter, he had been employed by several contractors. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Collins Rose of Lavalette, daughters, Adeline Miles of Reno, NV, Carol (Sam) Rogers of Savona, NY and Ruth (Mike) Fleming of Millerton, Pa., his brother, John Rose of Elmira, NY, his stepson, Gary Watts of Huntington, WV, grandchildren, Michael (Mary) Rogers of Elmira, Johnna Hall of Elmira, Mark (Janet) Plumley of Addison, Dennis Plumley of Millerton, Pa and Tammy Miles of Reno, NV. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren and by six special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Adeline Dailey Rose, brothers, Ernest, Robert and Gene Rose and sister, Doris Rose. Services and committal prayers will be conducted Wednesday, February 4 at 2 PM at the Woodhull Cemetery Chapel with military honors. Rev. David Maulucci will officiate.
