Obituary of Jerry E. Gunn

Troupsburg, NY | Jerry E. Gunn, 64, of County Route 82, Troupsburg, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY following a brief illness. Born in Hornell, NY on September 21, 1950, Jerry was the son of Eldon and Waneta Lewis Gunn. He was a graduate of Troupsburg Central School. On July 3, 1971, he and the former Sandra K. Mattison were married in Troupsburg. Sandy survives. Following high school, Jerry worked briefly for the Town of Troupsburg Highway Department and also Polly-O Dairy in Campbell. He then began a long employment with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) working as a heavy equipment operator from the Jasper shop. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman who adored his grandchildren. Time with family was his most treasured pastime. Surviving is his wife of over 43 years, Sandy Gunn at home, his daughters, Jeni Gunn of Troupsburg, Amy Button (Colby Brewer) of Troupsburg, Kari Gunn of Troupsburg and Tami Gunn of Jasper, his 12 granddaughters, Jeri, Lindsey, Miranda, Reaghen, Ellie, Chloe, Aubrey, Eryn, Lani, Kadi, Mattison, Kaysi, his 6 grandsons, Carson, Matthew, Justin, Mason, Treyson and Thomas, his mother and step father, Waneta and Otis Shoemaker of Rochester, his sisters, Linda Sawyer of Bath and Lorraine McNeil of Lindley, his brothers, Terry (Wanda) Gunn of Troupsburg and Rick (Theresa) Gunn of Troupsburg, his Boston Terrier Billie and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Cami Gunn and his father, Eldon Gunn. Jerry's wishes will be followed and there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
