Obituary of Gladys M. Wallace

CANISTEO: Gladys M. Wallace, 94, of Jackson St. passed away Thursday (Feb. 9, 2012) in the comfort of the home of her son Michael Wallace in Canisteo, following a short illness. Gladys was born February 19, 1917 in Canisteo to John and Minnie (Zeltwanger) Granger. On August 17, 1935 in Wellsville she married Donald B. Wallace who predeceased her in May of 2001. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Patty Stiles, a brother, Lee Granger and a sister Virginia Snyder. Gladys was a homemaker who spent the majority of her life in Canisteo raising her family and enjoying the time spent with grand children, great grand children, family and friends. Survivors include two daughters: Patricia (Ira) Stiles of Corning and Beverly (Robert) Mullen of Canisteo; two sons: Michael (Carolyn) Wallace of Canisteo and Thomas (Barbara) Wallace of York, Pa.: 15 grand children and several great grand and great, great grand children. The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the H. P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 8:00 PM. with the Rev. Norma Bond officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo.
