Troupsburg, NY | Lewis B. Matson, 98, a resident of Hurlbut Skilled Nursing Care, Rochester, formerly of Troupsburg, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Hurlbut Care. Lewis was born on the family farm in Troupsburg on February 7, 1917, the son of Lewis and Alta Gitchell Cady Matson. He attended Troupsburg schools. On February 22, 1942, Lewis married the former Ruby A. Sherman. Ruby preceded him in death on May 26, 2008. Lewis was a lifelong dairy farmer in Troupsburg and had also been employed at Ingersoll Rand Co. in Painted Post as a welder. Lew also was a long time school bus driver in Troupsburg. A member of the Troupsburg United Methodist Church, Lewis was also a former member of the Troupsburg Fire Department. He was a member of Robinson Lodge F&AM in Jasper and was a past Master of McClellan Lodge in Troupsburg. Surviving are his children, R. Lynn (Sharon) Matson of Falconer, NY, daughters, Andrea Everitt of Rochester and Janet Neally of Schaumburg, IL., 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his sister in law, Helen Matson of Greenwood, SC and nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Ruby, Lewis was predeceased by his brothers, Howard Matson and Gerald Matson and his sons in law, Clair Everitt and Joseph Neally. Friends may call on Monday, April 6, 2015 from noon to 2 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY with funeral services following at 2 PM. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted prior to funeral at 1:45 PM. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Troupsburg Fire Co. or Ladies Auxiliary. �� Service: Monday, April 6, 2015 2:00 PM�� H.P. Smith & Son Inc.
