Obituary of Arlene J. Carpenter

Addison, NY | Arlene J. Carpenter, 83, of County Route 5, Addison, NY passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers in Painted Post following a brief illness. Born in Woodhull, NY on February 6, 1932, Arlene was the daughter of the late Harold and Doris Casson Smith. She was raised on the family farm and was a graduate of Addison High School. Arlene married Charles E. Carpenter on August 4, 1951 at the Borden Baptist Church. Charlie preceded her in death on August 4, 2014. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Jeffrey Carpenter and her sister, Janet Nichols. Arlene was a homemaker and stay at home Mom. She was an Avon sales representative at one time. A long time member of the Tuscarora Baptist Church, she was a former Sunday School teacher there. She was a member of the TOPS chapter in Woodhull. Arlene always kept wonderful vegetable and flower gardens year after year. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Charles and Wilda Carpenter Jr. of Addison, Mark and Julie Carpenter of Mechanicsville, PA and Bradley and Emelia Carpenter of Mifflinburg, PA, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her sister, Jean (Robert) Snyder of Lindley, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 6 from noon to 2 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Arlene's funeral service will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Rollin Howard officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, NY. Service: Wednesday, May 6, 2015 2:00 PM H.P. Smith & Son Inc.
