Obituary of Nellie Ina Hand Cook

Nellie Ina Hand Cook, 80, of Brennan Road, Addison, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at her home following a long illness. Born in Westfield, Pa. on October 13, 1931, Nell was the daughter of G. Wendall Hand and Georgia Rice Hand. On April 29, 1950, she and Robert M. Cook were married at the United Methodist Church of Addison. Nell worked as a manager of Roberta's and then Mr. Kenn's in Painted Post for many years. She enjoyed working and interacting with people. The last 17 years of her working life, she was employed by Dr. and Mrs. Edward Cordes. Upon her retirement at age 70, she cared for her husband and her son until their deaths. She was an active member of Tuscarora-Woodhull Chapter 273, Order of the Eastern Star for 52 years and acted as Grand Chaplain in 1976. Nell enjoyed shopping and traveling but mostly she enjoyed being with her family and friends. Always having a welcoming smile, she will be missed by many. Nell was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert M. Cook in 2006, her son, Ricky R. Cook in 2005, her sister and brother in law, Donna and Louis Gorzycki and her brother in law, Edwin Stewart. Nell is survived by her daughter, Sandra Cook Neally of Addison, grandson, Charles Cook of California, granddaughter, Samantha Cook of Pennsylvania, sisters and brothers in law, Erma & Richard Rogers of Addison, Joyce & Bill Gridley of Addison and Doris Hand of Sarasota, FL, brother, G. Wendall Hand (James Allen) of Pine City, sister in law, Beulah Stewart of Addison, 15 nieces and nephews and several cousins. A memorial service will be held later at the convenience of the family. H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home of Woodhull is assisting the family. Service: Memorial Service at a time to be announced later
