Obituary of Zelia E. Mullen

GREENWOOD: Zelia E. Mullen, 86, of Main St. passed away peacefully Wednesday (Sept. 2, 2015) at her home following an extended illness. Zelia was born January 5, 1929, in Jasper to George and Carrie (Zeh) Hoyt. On March 1, 1947 in Canisteo she married Bernard G. Mullen who predeceased her in November of 2012. She was also predeceased by three grandchildren: Michele Lee Mullen, Miranda Sue Mullen, Craig Lang, a great grand daughter: Amber Quick, five brothers: Howard, Max, Edwin, Richard and Wyman Hoyt. Zelia was a life long resident of the Canisteo Valley where she was a home maker, wife and mother raising her family and helping on the family farm on the Sugar Creek Road in Canisteo. Survivors include 6 sons: Maurice "Mort" (Marsha) Mullen of Rexville, Bernard Mullen, Jr. of Greenwood, Patrick (Diane) Mullen of Hartsville, Marc (Carol) Mullen of Greenwood, Dennis (Karen) Mullen of Hornell, Barry Mullen of Hornell and Randy (Connie) Mullen of Canisteo, two daughters: Mary Hope (Ralph) Horton of Canisteo and Holly (Ernest) Lang of Hornell. Sister-in-law: Lilla M. Hoyt of Andover, several grand children and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Private calling hours will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Community of Christ Church in Greenwood. Burial will be in Bennetts Creek Cemetery in Greenwood.
