Obituary of Evan R. Smith

Evan R. Smith, 61, of Bunker Hill Road, Addison (Town of Tuscarora), passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Evan was born in Hornell, NY on January 6, 1954 and was the son of Harold E. "Chub" and Eleanor J. (Mather) Smith. He attended Addison Schools and was a 1972 graduate of Addison Central School. Evan was most often found behind the wheel of a truck, working as a milk hauler, refuse truck operator and lastly, working for 24 years for the Town of Tuscarora Highway Department. He had also been employed at Polly O in Campbell and had helped various farmers in the area. On July 3, 1988, Evan and the former Mariann Vitulli were married at the First Baptist Church of Woodhull. She survives. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving fishing, hunting, camping and riding his ATV. He was a member of the local Teamsters Union. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Chub" Smith on June 17, 2000 and by his brother, Douglas Smith. Surviving is his wife, Mariann Smith at home, his children, Aaron (Stephanie) Smith of Marietta, PA, Amanda Smith of Addison and Brandon Smith (Victoria Strobel) of Addison, his grandchildren, Gabby Smith, Autumn Smith, Abby Duran, Dakota Jones and Wyatt Smith, his mother, Eleanor Smith of Addison, his father, LeRoy Wheatcraft of Lakeland, FL, his sisters, LaRae Smith of Addison, and Sherrie (Daniel) Vitulli of Woodhull, his brother, Edward (Myra) Smith of Addison, his half brother, Roy Wheatcraft of Lakeland, FL ��and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in laws and cousins. Friends may call on Saturday, September 12 from 4-7 PM and again on Sunday from 1-3 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Sunday at 3 PM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, NY.��
