Obituary of Rosalee A. Hamblin

CANISTEO: Rosalee A. "Rosie" Hamblin, 63, of Maple St. passed away Wednesday (Oct. 14, 2015) at St. James Mercy Hospital surrounded by the comfort and love of her family, following and extended illness. Rosie was born May 21, 1952 in Corning to Floyd and Genevieve (Smith) Houghtelling. On September 10, 1988 in Groton, N.Y. she married Kenneth Hamblin who survives and resides in Canisteo. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a grandson, Landon Walsh Rosie was a life long resident of the Canisteo Valley where she was a devoted wife, mother and home maker. In addition to her husband of 27 years, Kenneth Hamblin, she is survived by a son Thomas Walsh of Red Creek, a daughter Veronica Quick of Canisteo, two step-children: Jeannie Ann Hamblin and Kenneth Hamblin both of Bath. Rosie is also survived by two sisters: Genevieve Short of Canandaigua and Verna Dishaw of Red Creek, four brothers: James (Carol) Houghtelling of Canisteo, Floyd Carl Houghtelling of Wolcott, John (Jeanine) Houghtelling, Floyd Everett Houghtelling of Red Creek, 10 grand children: Ryan, Curtis and Austin Quick, Kiley Walsh and Alexa Breed, Connor, Teagan and Logan Mullen, Topaz and Leon Wolfanger, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Saturday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3:00 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Rosie Hamblin's name may be made to Steuben Rural Ministries, West Main St. Canisteo, N.Y. 14823.��
