Milford M. Boom, 83, of Hornby Road, Monterey, NY, formerly of Addison, passed away at home on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Milford was born in Mills, PA on January 1, 1932, the son of Rex and Minnie Thompson Boom. Milford worked for both the Middlebury Center Milk Plant and Corning Glass Works as a teenager. He then found employment with the Ingersoll Rand Co. in Painted Post and retried from there by which time they had became Dresser Rand. He was a former member of the Elkland Moose Lodge. While living in Osceola, he and a friend ran a two man campaign to keep Osceola from becoming a dry town. They persevered. Milford was even known to produce his own runs of moonshine. He loved dogs and had been a breeder of Pekinese dogs at one time. He enjoyed traveling and also watching an old western movie. On July 2, 1985, he and Hazel Casbeer were married in Rapid City, SD. Hazel preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 2007. His first wife, Louise Mann also passed away on Dec. 5, 2005 as well as losing his grandson, Daniel Lowe and great granddaughter, Whitney Crippen and sisters, Arvilla Boom and Margaret Blanchard. Surviving are his daughters and sons in law, Roseann and Robert Weber of Monterey, Julie and Bill Smith of Coudersport, Kathy and James Lowe of Sabinsville and Nora and Jim Sampson of Osceola, his sons, Milford and Karen Boom of Jasper, Rex and Sandy Boom of Osceola and Daniel and Tracey Boom of Osceola and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 11 AM with Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in the Williams and McFall Cemetery in Conrad, PA.�� Service: Wednesday, October 21, 2015 11:00 AM�� H.P. Smith & Son Inc.
