Obituary of Donald G. Stanford

Donald G. Stanford, 83, of County Route 71, Jasper, passed away at home on Monday, November 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Tuscarora, NY on Feb. 12, 1932, the son of the late Donald A. and Grace Young Stanford. On Apr. 19, 1952, he married Louise Space. Louise preceded Don in death on Oct. 13, 2004. As a young man, Don worked in several jobs including time at Corning Glass Works, Ingersoll Rand Co., Miller's Gas Station in Corning and a job as a mail carrier. He eventually was employed as a truck driver for the Steuben County Dept. of Public Works. Don retired from there after 25 years service. Throughout his life, Don was always involved with farming to some degree. He was a great collector of old tractors and antique engines. He was a proud member of the NRA. Besides Louise, Don was predeceased by his infant son Allen Stanford in Feb. 1956, his brother, Ronald Stanford and his sister, Joyce Guild. Surviving are his sons, Donald (Shirley) Stanford of Painted Post, David Stanford (Deb Watson) of Addison, Douglas Stanford of Delano, TN and Timothy Stanford (Betty Barnhardt) of Woodhull, his daughters, Debra (Michael) Frost of Coopers Plains and Bobbi Jo Stanford of Woodhull, 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his brothers, Dick (Drew) Stanford of Snellville, GA, Robert (Betty) Stanford of Canisteo and James (Dora) Stanford of Jasper along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Thursday, November 19 from 6 to 8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. A memorial service will follow there at 8 PM with Rev.
