Obituary of Linda L. Sawyer

Bath, NY | Linda L. Sawyer, 67, of Bath, NY passed away very suddenly on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath after being stricken at home. Born in Hornell on January 13, 1948, Linda was the daughter of Eldon and Waneta (Lewis) Gunn. She was raised in Troupsburg and graduated from Troupsburg Central School. She married Gary Sawyer on February 19, 1966. They had a daughter and son together. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1977. Linda worked at Westinghouse Electric, which later became Phillips Lighting in Bath, retiring with over 30 years of active service. She was a homebody, enjoying planning and hosting family gatherings, riding her motorcycle, solving soduko puzzles and she loved decorating for the Christmas holidays. Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Alisa A. and Peter Gerrard-Gough of Bath, her son, Jon G. Sawyer of Kennesaw, GA, her mother and step father, Waneta and Otis Shoemaker of Rochester, her grandchildren, Ayla M. Peffley, Abigail G. Sawyer, Jacob H. Sawyer, Samantha T. Gerrard-Gough and Isabella J. Sawyer, her sister, Lorraine McNeill of Lindley, her brothers, Terry (Wanda) Gunn and Rick (Theresa) Gunn, all of Troupsburg, her sister in law, Sandy Gunn of Troupsburg and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Gunn in 2007, her brother, Jerry Gunn in 2015 and her infant brothers, Jan Michael Gunn in 1956 and Scott Glee Gunn in 1961. Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 from 10 AM to Noon at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Her funeral will follow at noon with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be made in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg. Memorials may be made to the Finger Lakes SPCA in Bath. Service: Tuesday, December 1, 2015 12 Noon H.P.
