Woodhull, NY | Verda M. Miles, 90, of Cty. Rte. 99, Woodhull, NY, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at home. Born in Woodhull on Dec. 18, 1924, Verda was the daughter of Bert and Florence Ellsworth Lamphear. She attended Woodhull High School. On Aug. 24, 1943, she married Arden D. Miles who preceded her in death on Apr. 19, 1976. As a young woman Verda had been employed by Corning Glass Works and Corning Fiber Box. She spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her loving family. She was a member of the Woodhull United Methodist Church. Verda loved being at home in her element of comfort. She was always surrounded by her family and cherished all their time together. She loved gazing from her window and watching the wildlife and beauty of her hilltop. She enjoyed the company of the many dogs in her life. She had been a longtime caregiver and dear friend of Iva Fox. Verda is survived by her children and their spouses, Anthony and Peggy Miles of Painted Post, Rick and Doris Jane Miles of Woodhull, Teresa and Johnny Lawton of Dallas, Texas, Timothy and Cynthia Miles of Pittsboro, NC and Michele and David McCaslin of Williamson, NY, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, her sister, Lois Tiffany of Woodhull and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Artie, Verda was predeceased by her son Brian Miles on Aug. 8, 2009, her brother, Clair Lamphear and her sisters, Audry Potter and Bernadine Newell. Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow at 8 PM with Pastor Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be made on Friday at 11 AM in Chenango Cemetery, East Troupsburg. Memorials may be made to the Woodhull Community Church, Woodhull Ambulance Assoc. or Paradise Garden in Woodhull.��
