Obituary of Margaret E. Nolton

CAMERON: Margaret E. "Peg" Nolton, 84, formerly of Cty. Rte. 119 in Cameron passed away Thursday (Jan. 21, 2016) at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center in Bath where she had resided since August of 2008. Peg was born May 28, 1931 in Montoursville, Pa. to Warren and Julia (McCarty) Ferrier. On June 19, 1954, in Cameron, she married Royce Nolton who predeceased her in October of 2004. She was also predeceased by a brother: Warren Ferrier and two sisters: Doris Ferrier and Agnes Crawford. Peg was a graduate of Canisteo Central School class of 1950 and was a housekeeping supervisor at the Bath VA Medical Center. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother who at one time taught Sunday school, was a Cub Scout den mother and 4-H instructor. Peg also opened her home to the children's Fresh Air program having several children from NYC enjoy the Cameron area. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting and cooking. Peg is survived by two daughters: Julia (Kirk) Dyke of Prattsburg and Paula (Dan) Meierdiercks of Geneseo , two sons: Freeman Nolton of Cameron and Roger (Cindy) Nolton of Bath, 10 wonderful grandchildren: Josanne and Derek Dyke, Jason, Kathleen and Kara Meierdiercks, Kaila Jones, Alex Nolton, Melissa and Erica Carney and Jessica Knowles and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: Paul (Wanda) Ferrier of Salisbury, MD. one sister: Pauline Smidt of Redding, CA., brothers-in-law William (Joyce) and Richard Nolton of Cameron and sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Smith of Cameron and Wanda Boyd of Tenn. several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3and 6-8 pm Saturday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place Sunday at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery in Cameron Mills. Memorial contributions in Margaret Nolton's name may be made to the Cameron Vol. Fire Dept. Cameron, N.Y. 14819.��
