Obituary of Joseph A. Cragle

Joseph A. Cragle, 73, of Cook Road, Woodhull, NY, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. Joe was born on May 3, 1942 in Harveyville, PA, the son of the late Lawrence Trump and Vera Cragle Burns. In 1963 Joe married the former Joyce Hartman. She preceded him in death in 1991. He later married Frances Scott Derosa in 1995 and she passed away in 2007. Joe was also predeceased by his son, Jeffery Bankard in 2008 and his infant daughter, Merinda Cragle in 1974. Joe was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Joe was a long time mechanic working for Berwick Forge & Fabricating in Berwick, PA. He had also been employed at G&B Specialty in Berwick as well as driving school bus there. Joe discovered Troupsburg several years ago and decided to make it his home. After moving here, he drove school bus, was a CDL Commercial Driver's License instructor at BOCES and was a newspaper rural route carrier. A great outdoorsman, Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. Joe also enjoyed bowling. He loved working with his hands and was a talented woodworker. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, be it family or someone in the community. He cherished time spent with family and friends. Joe was a member of the NRA, AARP, former Moose, American Legion, VFW and Eagle member as well as the "Old Man's Club". Surviving are his children, Melinda (Robert) Jones of Shickshinny, PA, Melissa (Pete) Potoeski of Woodhull, Frank Lange of Woodhull and Lori Lange of Woodhull, his grandchildren, Joshua Potoeski, Kristen Warrick, Melissa A. Potoeski and Joseph Potoeski, 6 great grandchildren and many, many adopted children and grandchildren that all called him Poppy Joe or Pappy A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church of Woodhull, West Main St. Woodhull with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Memorials may be made to the National Association for Down Syndrome at www.nads.org.��
