Obituary of Marguerite Kate Towsley

Marguerite Kate Towsley, 90, of Fairport, NY, entered into rest on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Aaron Manor Nursing Center in Fairport. Kate was born in Woodhull, NY on June 16, 1925, the daughter of Howard and Marguerite Smith Symonds. She grew up in Woodhull attending school there until her senior year when her family moved to Addison and she graduated from Addison High School. On June 22, 1944, she and Willard J. "Bill" Towsley were married in Woodhull. Bill preceded Kate in death on Sept. 12, 2013 following 69 years of marriage. Kate and Bill made their home in the Rochester area for many years. Upon retirement, they moved to Florida but they eventually returned to western New York to be near their sons and families. Surviving Kate are her sons and daughters in law, Gary and Olympia Towsley of Geneseo, NY, Richard and Susan Towsley of Penfield and Michael and Jan Towsley of West Henrietta, NY, her grandsons, Adam (Catherine) Towsley, Jacob (Rachel) Towsley and Paul (Bridget) Towsley, her granddaughter in law, Charity Towsley, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kate was predeceased by her grandson, Nathaniel Towsley and her sisters, Esther English and Arloween Kilmer. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17 from 1-3 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Kate's funeral service will follow there at 3 PM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, NY. Memorials may be made to the Fairport Community Baptist Church, 20 E.
