Melvin L. Aldrich, 85, of Church St., Osceola, PA, entered into rest on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. Melvin was born on January 22, 1931 in Freeman, Town of Tuscarora, NY, the son of Glenn and Elizabeth Morseman Aldrich. As a young man Melvin served his country in the US Army. He married the former Viola Baker who preceded him in death. He was employed as a hide processor at the former Elkland Leather Company until it's closing. Melvin was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish and working on farms. He was a talented carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands. He attended the Free Methodist Church in Elkland. Besides Viola, Melvin was predeceased by his son Melvin Aldrich Jr. on Dec. 22, 2010 and by his brother, Ronald Aldrich and his sister, Jean Morley. Surviving are his daughters, Dawn Smith of Derry, PA, Vicky (Carlyle) Beckhorn of Troupsburg and Francine (Michael) L'Amoureux of Erie, PA, his son with whom he made his home, Glenn (Tammy) Aldrich of Osceola, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his sisters, Jane (Robert) Gee of Osceola, Carol (Carl) Fish of Elkland and Dawn Hogan of New Hampshire, his sister in law, Betty Aldrich-Fish of Nelson and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Saturday, March 19 from 10 to 11 AM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. A memorial service will follow there at 11 AM with Rev.
