Obituary of Jean A. Hall/Longwell

HOWARD: Jean A. Hall/ Longwell, 79, of Burleson Rd. went home to be with the Lord Thursday (March 24, 2016) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell following a brief illness. Jean was born November 10, 1936 in Syracuse the daughter of Larmen and Genevieve (Duggar) Parks. On January 3, 1954 in Baldwinsville, N.Y. she married Rev. N. Ward Hall, Jr. who predeceased her in October of 2000. In July of 2001 she married Harold Longwell who predeceased her in April of 2014. Jean was also predeceased by a brother Charles Parks. Jean lived the better part of her life in the Canisteo area where she had assisted her husband Rev. Ward Hall at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church. She was a former Sunday School teacher and church secretary at Buena Vista and was also secretary to the Wesleyan District Superintendent of Central N.Y. which her husband, Rev. Hall held at one time. Jean was first and foremost a house wife and mother raising five wonderful children. She loved to knit and do crafts and enjoyed entertaining guests for dinner at her home. Anyone who knew Jean would acknowledge her love for people and her hospitality. Jean is survived by a son: Nelson (Tammy) Hall of Newville, Pa., four daughters: Cindy Lou (Michael ) Lamos of Bethlehem, Pa. Christine (Steve) Conklin of Canisteo, Cheryl (Carter) Voorheis of Burdett and Carol (Joey) Farrand of Franklinville, six step children: Dawn (Robin) Coots of Reno, NV, Harold "Bud" (Sharyl) Longwell, III of Avoca, Darla (John) Hoffman of Sunbury, Ohio, Deanna (Brad) Sargent of Ballston Spa, Timothy (Kathy) Longwell of Avoca and Heather (Michael) Johnson of Greensburg, Pa. Jean is also survived by her immediate grandchildren: Colette Hall, Deanna Marciana, Ward Hall, Austin and Craig Lamos, Jessica Stalhberg, Janelle Conklin, Lauren Olsen, Taylor Stabley, Ethan and Austin Voorheis, Whitney, Johanna, Josiah and Seth Farrand, her former son-in-law Douglas Stabley and daughter-in-law Renee Hall, her twin sister: Joyce Tily of Erie, Pa., sister: Beverly Parks, brother: Edward (Jane) Parks and sister-in-law Betty Parks all of Baldwinsville, as well as many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm Saturday at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, Cty. Rte. 69, Canisteo where a celebration of her life will take place immediately following calling hours at 5:00 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Caughdenoy, N.Y. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church Benevolence Fund, 6034 Cty. Rte. 69, Canisteo, N.Y. 14823. ��
