Stephen W. Jackson, 69, of St. Rte. 417, Addison, passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on Saturday, April 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born in Hornell, NY on May 17, 1946, the son of the late George S. and Veva D. (Hargrave) Jackson. He was raised in Woodhull and was a graduate of the Woodhull High School in 1963. He then attended Alfred State College for two years. Following college, Steve began work at the Ingersoll Rand Co. in Painted Post. Shortly after beginning employment there, the military draft instituted for Vietnam called him to duty. He proudly enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving from 1966 to 1970 with a year of duty in Vietnam. He worked with Marine Calvary units with helicopter maintenance. After leaving the military, Steve operated a dairy farm on the family farm in Woodhull. He worked the farm for many years before selling and moving on to other ventures. He purchased and has operated The Last Lap in Addison for 34 years. He enjoyed carpentry work and worked as a building contractor as well. Steve married the former Teena L. Harry in Niagara Falls, NY and they have been partners for 24 years. She survives. Steve was an avid stock car fan. He had been a sponsor and owner of several cars over the years, including cars driven by his two sons at area dirt tracks. He had also assisted his daughter with her participation in local go kart racing. Besides his wife Teena of Addison, Steve is survived by his sons, Stacy Jackson of Woodhull and Michael Jackson of Addison, his daughter, Aletha Jackson at home, his grandchildren, Brittany, Bailee, Dillion, Tyler, Kristi and Hannah, 4 great grandchildren, his sisters, Jackie Carpenter (David Kline) of Painted Post and Faye Guild-Nash of Woodhull, his brother, Mark (Mary Lou) Jackson of Palm Harbor, FL, his mother in law, Joanne Harry of Osceola, his sister in law, Leesa Harry of Morris Run, PA, 1 aunt, 1 uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Chenango Cemetery, Town of Troupsburg.
