Evelyn R. Spicer, 69, of 2560 N. Jasper Road, Jasper, entered into rest on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell. Born in Jasper on November 18, 1941, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Eleanor P. Baker Leach. She was a graduate of Jasper Central School. On April 27, 1973, Evelyn and Lonney J. Spicer were married in Perry, NY. Evelyn spent her adult life caring for the elderly, most recently operating Spicer's Adult Care Home at her home in Jasper. She cared for many patients in her home over the years assisted by her husband. She loved to cook and sew and truly enjoyed being a homemaker. She cherished time with her family and enjoyed camping and fishing with Lonney and her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Lonney Spicer of Jasper, her sons, Robert (Darlene) Spicer of Hornell, Joe Spicer of Jasper, Leroy (Joan) Simpson of Atlanta, Ga. And Curtis Warren of Rochester, her daughter, Sue (Richard) Robbins of Winter Haven FL, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brothers, Gary (Joyce) leach of Addison, Robert (Marie) Leach of Sarasota, FL and Mark (Barbara) Leach of Jasper, her sisters, Marilyn (Eugene) Warner of Gainesville, NY and Marjorie (Larry) Riekofski of Penn Yan, her aunts, Geraldine Baker and Nellie Baker along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service and time of remembrance was held Saturday, October 15 at 3:00 PM at the United Church of Jasper with Rev. David Barnard and Trevor Price officiating. H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Woodhull is assisting the family. .
