Obituary of Betty J. Kendall

Betty J. Kendall, 85, of Aberdeen, Maryland, formerly of Addison, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the home of her daughter Beth in Aberdeen. Betty was born in Hornell, NY on April 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Harry and Ethel Bevers Peck. She was raised in Hornell and was a 1950 graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School. On May 9, 1954, she and Robert H. Kendall were married at the Canisteo Wesleyan Church. Bob preceded Betty in death on Sept. 13, 2005. Betty had at one time worked in housekeeping at the Painted Post Holiday Inn but most of her life was spent as a homemaker, helping Bob on the family farm and raising her large family. She and Bob were always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and would often open their home for people while overcoming personal struggles. She loved to knit and crochet. Besides her husband Bob, Betty was predeceased by her sons, Eugene Kendall on Sept. 1, 2003 and Theodore Kendall on April 4, 2010, her grandson, Dustin Kendall, her granddaughter, Amanda Young and her son in law, Louis Young Jr. on Feb 7, 2005. Also preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Lynch, Ruth Lynch, Maurice Lynch, Ethel May Walker, Richard Thomas and Harriett Peck. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Young (Tom Perkins) of Osceola, PA, Kathleen Kendall of Addison, Robin (Jim) Padgett of Maiden, NC and Beth (Jack) Tripp of Aberdeen, MD, her sons, Robert Kendall (Robin Gaboriault) of Elkland and Andrew Kendall of Tennessee, her daughter in law, Sue Kendall of Tioga, PA, 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday, April 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Betty's funeral services will be held there on Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. Terry Moore officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
