Obituary of Doris M. Bennett

GREENWOOD: Doris M. Bennett, 92, of Main St. passed away Friday (April 13, 2012) at Wellsville Manor Nursing Home where she had resided since September of 2011. Doris was born October 17, 1919, in the town of Dansville to Fay D. and Hazel (Davis) Sutfin. On March 31, 1940 in Canisteo she married Howard I. Bennett who predeceased her in November of 1986. She was also predeceased by a daughter Joan Bennett in January of 1999, four brothers Floyd, Earl, Robert and Gerald Sutfin as well as four sisters: Evelyn McClary, Kathryn Houghtaling, Marian Monaghan and Ada Cary. Doris had resided in Greenwood for many years. She was school secretary and district clerk for Greenwood Central School. She was a former member and past Matron of the former Arbutus Court, Order of Amaranth of Canisteo. She was also a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter Lois (John) Leonard of Troupsburg, a son Roy Bennett (Joni Welton) of Dansville, 6 grand children: Pam (Tom) O'Rourke, Tim Leonard, Pat (Kim Kiley) Leonard, Terry (Jodi) Leonard, Chris (Dawn) Bennett and Connie (Rod) Karr, 15 Great grand children: Ryan, Brenna, Nicole, Carly, Bridget, Nikki, Kevin, William, Lyndsey, Dustin, Amber, Robbie, Rachel, Ryan, and Reaghan. She is also survived by two sisters: Helen Fisk of Hornell and Lucille (Raymond) Lockwood of Canisteo and two sisters-in-law Edna Sutfin of Canisteo and Onnalee Sutfin, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where a funeral service will take place Saturday at11:00 AM. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo. Memorial contributions in Doris Bennett's name may be made to either the Greenwood Ambulance Corp. c/o Mason Burdick, P.O.
