Obituary of Sharon L. Mayo

Sharon L. Mayo, 68, of Clendenning Road, Painted Post, NY, formerly of Jasper, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Sharon was born in Corning on Aug. 20, 1947, the daughter of the late Leon and Virginia (Elliott) Barber. She grew up in Corning and attended schools there. On Sept. 21, 1972, she married Harry C. Mayo and they made their home together in Jasper, Harry preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2011. Sharon retired from the Steuben County Public Health Nursing Service where she had been employed as a home health aide. She enjoyed cake decorating, a craft of which she was very talented. Besides her husband Harry, Sharon was predeceased by her son, Bryan Mayo, her brothers, Robert Barber and Raymond Barber and her sister in law, Thelma Cook. She is survived by her children and their partners, Jennifer and Joe Leonard of Painted Post, Andy and Kim Mayo of Hempstead, NC, Teresa and James Sexton of Hornell and Karen Coleman and Dan Connors of Hornell, her grandchildren, Evelyn Leonard, Sylvia Leonard, Lane Leonard, Reagan Mayo, Braedon Mayo, James Sexton, Brianne Sexton, Courtney Sexton, Seanna (Jameson) Gifford, Nicholas (Rheannon) Coleman and Christopher Coleman, 8 great grandchildren, her brother, Fred (Lorraine) Barber of Jasper, her step sister, Nancy Woodriff of Florida, her sisters in law, Marlies Barber of Corning, Patricia Kruger of Big Flats and Betty Ribble of Elmira and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 7 in Jasper Cemetery, Jasper, NY. Her nephew, Rev.
