Obituary of Ralph E. Kent

Ralph E. Kent, 83, of Cook Road, Troupsburg, NY, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell after being stricken at home. Born in Elmira on May 3, 1933, Ralph was the son of the late Gerald E. and Delia S. (Everitt) Kent. He was a 1951 graduate of Troupsburg Central School. Ralph enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1957 to 1959. On May 27, 1961, he and the former Vera Drake were married in the Austinburg United Methodist Church. Vera survives. Ralph and Vera operated a dairy farm together in the Town of Troupsburg for most of their adult lives. They were members of the United Methodist Church of Woodhull. Ralph served on the Ag Advisory Committee for Troupsburg Central School and later for Jasper-Troupsburg Central following their merger. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Vera Kent of Troupsburg, his sons, Brian (Linda) Kent of Linwood, NY and Curtis Kent of Woodhull, his granddaughter, Amber Kent, his step grandchildren, Kerri McCann, Bonnie & Steve Malley and Clyde and Bridgett Taylor, 7 step great grandchildren, his sisters, Elena (Ernest) Stebbins of New Port, PA and Diane Kemp of Knoxville, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call on Saturday, July 16 from noon to 2 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Ralph's funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Austinburg, PA.�� Service: Saturday, July 16, 2016 2:00 PM�� H.P. Smith & Son Inc.
