CANISTEO: Donald E. "Sparky" Lorow, Sr. 64, of Ste. Rte. 248 passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. Don was born January 1, 1952 in Hornell to Donald and Joyce (Mighells) Lorow. On October 8, 1983 in Canisteo he married the former Stephanie Misencik who survives and resides in Canisteo. He was predeceased by his father in December of 2012. Don "Sparky" was a graduate of Hornell High School and had been a truck driver for many years for Total Logistics of Michigan. For several years he was a farrier servicing the Hornell and surrounding areas before becoming and retiring as a truck driver. He was a member and proud supporter of the AmVet Riders of VFW Post 245 in Hornell where he was treasurer and also State Dept. 2nd Vice President. Don was also a member of the VFW Post 220 in Hornell. He loved to ride his motorcycle, a "Harley" and he would let it be known that there was only one type of motorcycle and that was a " Harley Davidson." Don also enjoyed his horses, both in riding and in competition roping at many rodeos with his son Don, Jr. Don "Sparky" Lorow, Sr. is survived by his wife Stephanie of Canisteo, a daughter: Teri Pierce (Gonzo) of Almond, three sons: Donald E. (Jennifer) Lorow, Jr. of Hornell, John Krakovsky of Allen, TX. and Jason (Barbara) Lorow of Kersey, Pa. six wonderful grandchildren: Sheila Lorow (Brett), Shantalle (Ryan) Dixon, Abigail Lorow, Stevie Pierce, Gregory and Julie Lorow. He is also survived by his mother Joyce Lorow of North Hornell, two brothers: Jeffrey (Mary Ellen) Lorow of Rock Hill, S.C. and Michael (Lucinda) Lorow of Angelica, two sisters: Cynthia (Michael) Cartella and Rebecca (Paul) Dean all of Canisteo. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Monday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. Private family service and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Donald "Sparky" Lorow's name may be made to the AmVet Riders, Post 245 28 Broadway Mall, Hornell, N.Y. 14843
