GREENWOOD: Josephine Campanella, 89, formerly of Church Hill Rd. passed away Friday (July 29, 2016) at Hornell Gardens where she had resided since January of 2015. Josephine was born August 10, 1926 in New York City to Carmelo and Lucy (Insalaco) Panzica. On October 21, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY she married Joseph Campanella who predeceased her in May of 1991. She was also predeceased by two brothers: Michael and Anthony Panzica. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and home maker. She loved to crochet, knit and make other various crafts, and was an avid reader. Josephine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Leonard and Jeanne Campanella of Greenwood. Two wonderful grandchildren: Eric Campanella and Stacy (Robert) Shepherd. A sister-in-law: Mildred Pappas of Fresh Meadows, N.Y. and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will take place Tuesday at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, N.Y. Memorial contributions in Josephine's name may be made to the Greenwood Volt.
